About Katherine
The first session starts with a diagnostic skills check. We evaluate where you stand.
This allows me to build a specific plan for your growth. We focus on rhythm and power chords until your hands move without constant supervision. Whether you are prepping for grade exams or just want to play lead guitar, I keep the theory relevant to the songs you enjoy.
My structure is hidden beneath a relaxed, jokey vibe. We will measure your progress against your own goals, ensuring you move toward the sound you want to achieve.

Teaching guitar is usually less about the instrument and more about managing the frustration of the fingers. Most people think they need to spend thousands on gear before they actually sound good. I prefer to show you how to pull a professional tone out of a beat up acoustic model.
My approach pulls from my 13 years of gigging across the chanson circuit to keep things grounded in actual music. I work with absolute beginners and seasoned intermediate players who want to bridge their theory gaps. Blues progressions and reading sheet music become much simpler when you relate them to a story.
I also handle tuning and maintenance so your gear stays reliable. I spend my downtime listening to old records and thinking about how to explain complex patterns in plain speech.
