About the lesson

I start with different presentation types, and purposes, moving on through storyboarding and presentation basics. This approach means that the lessons on the mechanics of PowerPoint are far simpler to digest, as they are presented as a way of achieving the business goals identified in the earlier lessons.

Part 1 : purpose. What are you trying to achieve with this PowerPoint deck? Is it a formal presentation, a briefing deck for your boss, a discussion starter or perhaps a paper report?
Part 2: the story. What is your narrative? How are you setting the scene? What messages do you want to leave your audience with? How should you navigate between the two?
Part 3: building the story in PowerPoint. Telling the story through headers, presenting evidence and pulling out conclusions and recommendations
Part 4: making it look great. Use of templates, fonts, colours smartart and artwork.
Part 5 : advanced techniques. Animation, kiosk modes, video and audio and more.
