About Shirley
Teaching exists because songwriting should be a shared pursuit rather than a lonely chore. It is rarely the most talented person who finishes the best song, but rather the most consistent one.
I have spent 10 years honing the craft of lyric writing and finding the right melody. Many of the 263 students I have worked with are singer-songwriters or gigging musicians.
We spend time on harmony basics and writing over chords to make your ideas stick. Concept development is vital, so we often focus on title and concept development first.
I really value the process of co-writing and collaboration during these sessions. You might find that demoing your ideas feels much easier once you have a partner. If you want to chat about your current projects, I am usually around.

Actually, personalization starts with listening to what you want to write before we touch an instrument. My approach is rooted in the 10 years of experience I have from my own releases. We look at how to write memorable choruses that stay with your audience. I use my technical background from my Diploma in Audio Engineering to ensure your demos sound clear.
We bridge the gap between a rough idea and a completed song. It works. You will walk away with a finished track.
