About Susan
I taught for 40 years in both public and private schools and have done a lot of tutoring. I like to establish a relationship with my students in which they feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions. I never judge or make them feel bad. The emotional aspect of tutoring is very important to me. Parents are always welcome to ask questions and check in on their child's progress. We should work as a team to help the student succeed.
I am very professional in my dealings with students and parents. I never betray confidences or act out of line. My purpose for tutoring is to help struggling students in a subject that can be difficult and scary.

I love teaching Spanish and French. I am very patient and understanding of students who struggle, as I did in Math. I work hard to prepare lessons and assignments. One of my specialties is understanding how students learn and designing lessons to fit their needs. Lessons are also designed according to the language level, for example, beginning, intermediate or advanced.
I use oral, visual and kinesthetic (moving) approaches. A typical lesson would include homework review if applicable, presentation or review of material and practice in class. Practice could include games, describing pictures, or answering questions.
