About George

Hello! I'm George. I know that studying English can be scary or boring (sorry, Duolingo). Let's make this different - lessons built around you, your goals, and your interests, so you actually look forward to learning.

With a world-renowned CELTA teaching qualification and 1,000+ hours of teaching experience in classrooms and online, I work with learners from all backgrounds - refugees, business professionals, college students, or anyone who simply wants to express their true selves in conversation.

I have a background in business, journalism, and customer service, which means I value clear communication, active listening, and an inclusive space for learning English. If you’re looking for lessons that adapt to your pace and interests - without the stress of traditional classes - then we’re a great match.

In my spare time, I love playing tennis, seeing friends, reading, yoga, and of course learning languages! I've lived in both the UK and Mexico, and I love to meet new people and learn their stories.

But enough about me. I want to hear about you. Don't be afraid to say hi, I'll take it from there!

If you’ve ever thought, ‘I’m so much funnier in my native language’ - I get it. Starting during Covid, I learned Spanish from scratch, eventually reaching C1 level today. So on the one hand, I know how hard it is when you can’t express yourself fully in a different language. On the other hand, I’ve also found language learning to be one of the most rewarding endeavours of my life. It’s opened me up to countless new friendships, travel experience, culture, and fun. This is the magic I aim to share with English language learners every day.

In my lessons you'll enter into a supportive, flexible environment where we play to your strengths, tackle your challenges together, and explore this beautiful language with open hearts and open minds, in order to reach a place where you’re expressing your true self in English.

Received Pronunciation (RP), also known as Queen’s English, is currently the most in-demand accent in the English speaking world. It conveys confidence and sophistication in an understated way. But that doesn't mean that learning to speak in this accent has to be painfully hard work. My approach is practical, student-centred, and sprinkled with genuine British flair. I tailor every session to your style and goals - from exam strategies, to real-life conversation practice, to cultural exploration, with plenty of authentic UK English.

All so that you - or your child - get immersed from the get-go.

Doy clases en inglés y español. (I teach in both English and Spanish.)

My approach as your teacher:

• Student-Centred Learning: Every lesson is shaped around your goals, interests, and preferred learning style. I use a mix of discussion, real-world tasks, and skill-building exercises.
• Exam Preparation: I have experience helping students succeed in IELTS, Cambridge BEC, B1 Preliminary, TOEFL, and more. Lessons focus on strategies, practice tasks, and feedback.
• Digital Integration: I use educational technology and authentic materials (videos, games, news, music) to make learning engaging and practical.

A Typical Lesson:

• Needs Review: Brief check-in and review of previous material, with fun recap activities.
• New Focus: Introduction of new language or skills, using examples from your life and the real world.
• Practice: Interactive role-plays, discussions, study activities or exam-style questions - tailored to your objectives.
• Feedback: Immediate, constructive feedback and tips for independent study.
• Flow: No one lesson needs to follow a rigid structure. As such, we can throw all of the above out of the window, and instead double down on what is working best for you.

What Sets Me Apart:

• A commitment to you: I take pride in my students reaching their full potential, and as such, you can feel comfortable approaching me about any doubts you might have.
• A level playing field: I believe that there’s no such thing as a stupid question- if something isn’t clear, I haven’t explained it properly. I also believe that there’s no ego in language learning, it’s a journey we embark on together.
• Ongoing Professional Development: I regularly update my methods (attending English Language Teaching conferences, webinars, and engaging in private pedagogical study) so our lessons are fresh, relevant and enjoyable.
• Personal Insight: As a language learner myself, I bring empathy and practical advice to every class.

Who My Lessons Are For:

• Levels: Beginner to advanced (A1–C2).
• Ages: 0-150
• Focus Areas: Conversation, exam preparation, travel, business English, general English, online English skills. It could also mean Bridgerton, Adele, 1984, or the memes your friends send you in English.
