About Lorie

I am a semi-retired teacher in the state of Pennsylvania. My teaching certifications include Elementary Education in both PA and NJ, and a TEFL (Teacher of English as a Foreign Language). I hold a degree in Elementary Education from Western Governors University. For the past twenty years I have devoted myself to improving the lives of students through education. I have focused both on students with learning disabilities and students who come from disadvantaged backgrounds. I believe that all students can learn.

About the lesson

I encourage students to ask questions when they are having difficulty. I explain topics thoroughly and encourage practice. I often use visuals in my tutoring. A typical lesson plan includes a stated objective, modeling, guided and independent practice. I hold three teaching certificates (Elementary Ed, TEFL) from two states (PA and NJ), which means that I am highly qualified. My patience and enthusiasm set me apart from other tutors. My expertise spans grades 2-6 in math and reading comprehension.
