About Subhin

Hello! I am a native Korean speaker from South Korea and currently a student at the University of Sydney. Having studied in both Korean and English-speaking educational environments, I can explain Korean clearly in English while also teaching the natural expressions, pronunciation and cultural context that textbooks may not fully cover.

I understand that speaking a new language can feel difficult or embarrassing at first. Therefore, I create a patient, supportive and relaxed learning environment where students can ask questions and make mistakes without feeling judged. My goal is to help every student gradually build both their Korean ability and their confidence.

I take my responsibilities as a tutor seriously. I prepare each lesson carefully according to the student’s level and goals, arrive on time, and provide clear corrections and constructive feedback. I also listen to students’ interests and regularly adjust the lessons to ensure that they remain useful and enjoyable.

Whether you are learning your first Korean words or hoping to speak more naturally, I will support you throughout your learning journey with kindness, preparation and professionalism.

About the lesson

My lessons are designed for beginner and intermediate learners, including teenagers and adults. Whether you are learning Korean for travel, university, work, K-pop, Korean dramas, Korean food or everyday conversation, I will create lessons that match your personal goals, interests and learning pace.

My lessons are personalised, practical and focused on helping students use Korean confidently in real-life situations. Depending on your needs, lessons can include everyday conversation, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, reading and writing. I use short dialogues, guided speaking activities, role-play and cultural examples to make Korean easier to understand and remember. I can also explain difficult concepts in English when needed.

As Korean culture is loved worldwide, I incorporate students’ interests—such as K-pop idols, Korean dramas and Korean food—into my lessons. For example, we may learn expressions through K-pop interviews, practise listening with scenes from Korean shows, or study useful vocabulary using Korean menus and food-related situations. This allows students to learn natural Korean while exploring the parts of Korean culture they genuinely enjoy. Rather than relying only on textbooks, I aim to make every lesson engaging, relevant and memorable.

A typical lesson is 60 minutes. We usually begin with a short review of the previous class, learn new expressions or grammar, and then practise using them through conversation. At the end of each lesson, I provide corrections, feedback and optional homework so that students can continue practising independently.

I am a native Korean speaker currently studying at the University of Sydney. As someone studying in an English-speaking university environment, I understand the challenges of learning and communicating in another language. I can teach natural pronunciation, useful everyday expressions and the cultural context behind the Korean language.
