About Lucy

I am a dedicated and passionate educator who places teaching at the core of who I am. My approach is centered on providing my students with the best of my knowledge, guidance, and support, ensuring they achieve their full potential.

In addition to my teaching experience, I bring valuable industry expertise, having worked with renowned companies such as Tefal and 3M. This hands-on experience enriches my lessons, offering students real-world insights into the design process and its practical applications.

A highlight of my career has been successfully guiding students who had faced a year without a teacher. Through motivation, inspiration, and tailored support, I helped them not only regain confidence but also achieve excellent results. Witnessing their transformation and success remains one of my proudest achievements as an educator.

My teaching philosophy combines warmth, encouragement, and high expectations, fostering an environment where students feel motivated to learn, create, and excel. I am deeply committed to ensuring that every student benefits from a meaningful and rewarding educational experience.

About the lesson

My lessons typically run for around two hours, ensuring ample time to cover the essential content and theory required for success in AQA Design and Technology. The subject includes a significant theoretical component, which benefits from a structured and in-depth approach.

My passion for Design and Technology stems from achieving high grades during my secondary school years, leading me to pursue a degree in Product Design with a focus on Media and Graphics Design at university. This background allows me to bring both academic and practical expertise to my teaching.

For students in Years 7 to 9, I focus on introducing a variety of materials and products, exploring their properties, and understanding different production processes. Lessons include hands-on experience with tools such as CAD/CAM, fostering both creativity and technical skills.

In Years 10 and 11, I guide students through structuring their coursework, from developing initial product ideas to completing comprehensive projects. I provide support at every stage, ensuring students stay on track, refine their designs, and meet the required standards with confidence.

My goal is to equip students with a strong foundation in design principles, technical skills, and problem-solving abilities, preparing them for academic success and future opportunities in creative industries.
