About Ana

I am a literature teacher who has a master's degree and a PhD from the University of São Paulo about the work of the Brazilian writer Machado de Assis. I often take part in national and international conferences about literature in Brazil and worlwide. Now I develop a post-doctoral research at the University of Campinas about the work of the Brazilian writer Júlia Lopes de Almeida.

I taught literature at Cristo Rei School in São Paulo from 2019 to 2021. There I worked with all High School grades and with the literacy of Elementary School students. My goal has always been to motivate students to improve how they read texts, as well as how they perceive the world.

Lately I have been teaching literature in private classes, preparing students for university entrance exams. I also supervise International Baccalaureate (IB) students who have Portuguese as their Language A. I teach online students around the world, including countries such as New Zealand, Australia, and the United States.

I am available to answer students' questions and to encourage them to read and write. I'm also a good educational company to explore cultural events in São Paulo. I believe that the access to literature is fundamental for the lives of students and for the role they begin to play in society.

I really enjoy talking to students. I'm happy when they develop critical thinking and human values through the contact with literary texts.

My classes are focused on how students read literary texts, so that they can develop analytical and interpretative skills. I strongly believe that it is very important that the students get involved with the text, finding emotional and intellectual motivation to read it and to become an active reader.

Based on the reading lists of the Brazilian entrance exams and in the International Baccalaureate (IB) official guidelines, I direct classes to debates that prove to be relevant to students in their life moment and in their reality.

I choose materials carefully, looking for current and available editions of texts. I often use online materials such as texts with reliable editions and public domain resources. I also encourage the creation of materials by the students themselves, guiding the making of a journal conveying their reading experience.

For the lesson plans I always take into account the students' goals and learning pace. Whether they are preparing for university entrance exams in Brazil, or carrying out their IB studies worlwide, or even seeking to improve their reading and writing levels. Many of my students have been approved in Brazilian universities and reached their learning goals.

I also carry out assessments, so that the students feel confident about their learning process and results. In my internship at the University of São Paulo and in my previous experiences as a High School teacher, my supervisors have always praised me for improving the students' results and for creating learning and evaluating resources.
