About Calum

Alongside my career I have volunteered with and tutored teenagers sitting SQA exams. I have helped several students to increase their grades from prelims to final exams.

My career before becoming a student teacher involved use of biochemistry to create products for medicines and cosmetics, so I can share with students the importance of their learning for real world applications. I have always been passionate about sharing science and it is great to connect with students about the subjects that make up our world.

About the lesson

Online tutoring via Zoom and whiteboard software to help students prepare for and excel in SQA exams. I offer one or two hour lessons where we can revise classwork as it happens or dig deeper into parts of the course that might not yet be clicking. I frequently use past paper style questions in my lessons to prepare for the final exams. I will always send short notes from our sessions although I also encourage students to take their own. My goal in any lesson is not just to revise the course or to improve exam technique, but to raise a pupil's confidence in their own abilities.
