Hi!
I have been teaching for over 25 years. I am a literacy specialist, trained in several literacy intervention and phonics programs, such as Sound Thinking, Words Their Way, Science of Reading and Heggerty. If your child is struggling with decoding (reading) and spelling, I can help. I teach using decodable readers to build skill and confidence. Additionally, I use games and activities to make practicing reading and spelling fun!
I also teach numeracy, both to students who struggle and to those wanting to challenge themselves. Delving into a mathematical mindset was an interest that turned into a passion. It changed my approach to numeracy instruction completely.
I also have 13 years of Teaching English as a Second Language experience, both in Canada and abroad.
I offer tutoring for:
- elementary students who are reading and writing below grade level
-elementary students needing numeracy intervention
-ESL/EAL at any grade
-middle and high school English students who need support in reading comprehension or essay writing
I am located in SE Calgary.
