About Shannon
I have been teaching for 14 years. My experience includes 6th-grade math, science, and keyboarding; 7th - 9th-grade science; and all subjects in Kindergarten, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade.
I have had classes as big as 30 and as small as 14. My students have generally scored well on state tests (MAP) and have made great strides in reading, writing, and math.

I began teaching a little later in life. I wanted to spend time with my children while they were young and reentered college when I was 30. I have a degree in Elementary Education with Early Childhood; however, I feel I am better suited for students 2nd grade and up.
When teaching most subjects, I introduce the objective, give students examples, have them try some with me, and then have them complete problems on their own.
I believe technology is a great tool to show students pictures and examples of objectives in any subject. Also, repetition and spiraling lessons make comprehension possible.
