I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and History, and a Bachelor of Education degree. I have 3 years experience teaching ESL focusing on reading, writing, speaking and listening in English. I appreciate that there are various types of learners, and that not everyone will learn that same way. Therefore, I find it important to incorporate many different ways of teaching into my lessons. Some of these include: having students move around so that they are not always sitting (especially younger students), provide visuals when appropriate, and provide manipulatives so that students can learn through hands-on experiences. I also find it important to build teacher/student relationships where trust is formed and to get to know a student's interests. Once I get to know a student I will try to incorporate their interests into the lessons so that it can be relatable and enjoyable. Also, building relationships with parents/guardians is important so that there can be trust between everyone.
