About Seema

I think that everybody learns differently and at different rates, so the group-learning environment at school causes students to struggle and disengage from what they are learning. Also, students learn to tests or exams because teenagers will often look for an easy way to do something so they practice how to answer questions rather than understanding the actual content, so when they are given a new question they can struggle to answer it. Teenagers have short attention spans.

About the lesson

Welcome to the world of tutoring! As someone who managed to build a reasonably successful tutoring business from scratch, I can give you some points of advice. I don't have all the answers, but I can tell you about some of the most important variables that will influence you. Furthermore, a successful tutor is keenly aware when they are failing to build this relationship, or when they are not meeting all the student's needs for any reason. There will be some students for whom you are simply not a good fit. It is essential to recognize this early, and bow out respectfully when it occurs. Learn your own strengths and weaknesses so that you can always be operating in your sweet spot. This is the only way to really get noticed and to earn recommendations in your favor. For me, my sweet spot was grade 7+ math/science/drawing and being able to teach all the subjects from grade 1 to 5 with self-motivation and on the high-performing side. I don't know what yours will be, but you will need to find it for yourself.

Perfect! Besides being knowledgeable in the field of drawing and art, Seema is a caring and patient person. Her first session with my teenage granddaughter, who is on the spectrum, was excellent. Seema's instructions were clear and my granddaughter was immediately responsive and enjoyed her lesson very much. We will be continuing with her lesson's with Seema.

Xana is a lovely girl. During the drawing lesson demo, she showed great observation skills and followed instructions very well. She is also a wonderful storyteller with a strong imagination — she creates her own stories and illustrates them beautifully.

One of her best qualities is her focus; she doesn’t get up until her work is complete. Although she is on the autism spectrum, it’s hardly noticeable because she approaches every challenge with determination and enthusiasm, just like any other child. She truly is a delightful and talented student.
