About Samuel

I am a seasoned educator with a PhD in History from the University of Cambridge and over 10 years' teaching experience in schools, and at sixth form and university level. I have taught and mentored over 1,000 students, including providing personal tutoring to 50 individuals, guiding them to academic success and personal growth.

I love teaching. I enjoy seeing people grow in undertanding and in their love of learning. I just love being a part of that process in which young people are shaped and formed as they learn about the world, human society and our rich history and thought.

As well as enjoying the journey, I also want to help young people to achieve their goals and give them the best chance of getting to whatever their next stage is - college, university, or a degree and a first job.

I am not only a tutor but an active teacher and scholar. I have published and presented papers at prestigious conferences, and I’m currently working on a monograph based on my PhD research. My academic expertise in politics and history ensures that you receive up-to-date and well-informed instruction.

I’m analytical, deeply caring and curious. I have two young boys, am involved in a local church, and play football in my spare time.

I have done everything from a basic introduction to philosophy for 11 year-olds to running interdisciplinary seminars for postgraduates and senior scholars.

Tailored approach to learning: I believe that every student is unique, so my tutoring sessions will be customized to suit your individual learning style. It is really important to me that I understand your interests and what drives you as a person in order that I can better understand and evaluate your academic needs. Whether you want help mastering complex historical theories, enhancing your understanding of philosophical concepts, or improving your essay-writing skills, I bring subjects to life with engaging and interactive 1-1 lessons that make learning both effective and enjoyable.

Proven track record: My students have consistently achieved exceptional results. For instance, over 80% of my most recent GCSE class earned a grade 9. I have also successfully helped students secure places at their first-choice universities through tutoring them through exams or re-sits, and helping draft personal statements.
