About James
I am a Master of Physics graduate from Durham University, having achieved a 2:1 degree with honours last summer. I volunteered as a maths teacher at a junior school for a year and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The class consisted of a dozen 9-10 year olds and I put great effort into preparing activities for the children to be fun, engaging and informative! I have since worked for a software company, having previously had experience in an LGC laboratory and with a PhD team at Newcastle University. As a result, I have a great understanding of STEM in the real world and may also be able to give advice to prospective students.

I am a suitable tutor of Maths and Physics up to A-level, and Chemistry up to GCSE. I like to teach a hands-on approach to problem solving: once a student has a basic grasp of the core content I tend to help them through a wide variety of questions pertaining to the material. This is because I have found students' understanding to be far more thorough, and them to be more confident in their abilities, if a majority of the time is spent applying knowledge to problems and coaching them through any difficulties. This also proves good preparation for examinations, even at undergraduate level.
