About Ashley
Music is a great therapy for the soul, and it allows our minds to explore our musical imagination which makes learning more fun and memorable. I have been blessed with a wonderful gift and greatly motivated to play piano from the age of eight years old.
With extensive years of experience playing the piano, being the lead pianist in my church community, and successfully completing the required levels of the Royal Conservatory examinations in which I’ve been honored in receiving an award for First Class Honors with Distinction as well as scholarships; learning to play the piano has inspired me to become the musician and teacher I am today.
Through dedication, hard work, and a solid support system each student will excel in attaining their goals and improving their music literacy and performance in becoming a great musician.

Each student will be mentored according to their individual learning style. While recognizing their true potential and capabilities as a visual learner, a verbal learner, a physical learner, or for those who prefer using sound and music, their inspiration and talents will be nurtured so they are able to excel and succeed through a structured course of development.
Various teaching methods will be taught so that students will be able to express their own creativity. For those who are visual learners, they will prefer using pictures and images for their understanding while someone who is a verbal learner would prefer using words through speech and writing. Students will be engaged in various activities throughout their classroom experience such as memorizing sounds, listening to recordings and playing them back which will include different styles of high and low notes, long notes, loud and soft notes, learning finger control and coordination on the piano, testing their levels of pitch, and different rhythmic patterns as well as learning to read music.
Over the course of the year students will study the RCM Celebration Series, 2015 method books which provide a diverse collection from Baroque, Classical, Romantic 20th-and 21st century style periods. Musical training will be incorporated on a weekly basis as well as practicing assignments that will support their musical development and create independent learning in sight reading, technique, and theory. In addition to their development, students will partake in the assessments for the RCM examination which is a useful measure of their progress and to improve their musicianship skills while obtaining the RCM Certification upon successful completion of the exam.
There’s more to music than just the melody. Students are encouraged to participate in the recital competition which is a great opportunity for them to showcase their hard work and progress throughout the year that can also be very rewarding. We will celebrate the success and the challenges that will build their confidence and intellectual development. As a teacher and a mentor, each student will be recognized and acknowledged for their achievements in order to enhance their sense of accomplishment and encourage motivation for continued improvement.
