*********
Learning the violin (and later the piano) was one of the best things my parents did for me as a child. It taught me extremely valuable lessons - such as the importance of simplicity, discipline, developing a work ethic and becoming your own teacher. It developed skills such as how to listen, how to analyse and evaluate, how to articulate myself, and how to work together with others. They're skills I've taken with me into every other aspect of life. It also gave me life affirming experiences, listening to and performing music with others, and feeling the true power of this art form in its many different contexts. As a society we need music now more than ever. Now I have great pleasure in sharing what I've learnt to others. Having observed different teachers and learning environments over the years, I started to refine the way I approached and taught the violin and piano. Learning an instrument can be very fun and simple, however it does take some time and real consistency in order to progress. If committed, you will get back much more than what you put in.

My approach is centred on creating a positive learning environment based on the needs of each individual. My role is to 100% support you in your development. Whether progressing through grade examinations or playing for fun, I aim to give my students the essential skills so that they can get the best out of their playing time.

I combine a background of classical tuition style, neuroscience, and body mechanics to produce progressive results when applied over a consistent period. I am all about conscious movement and developing self-awareness through practice. The more sensitive and aware we are, the more we can improve and pursue excellence in our playing - this is transferable to the rest of Life.

Learning an instrument (particularly the violin) trains the nervous system, builds character, improves brain function and concentration, increases sensitivity and emotional intelligence, relieves stress, enhances mood and mental stability - amongst many other things.

I personally believe everyone has their own individual journey to go on, due to this each version of success is different. I aim to clarify this for each student so that we can get the most out of the lessons. Whether an adult or a child, every age group has its benefits and disadvantages, so any time is a good time to begin learning.

DETAILS: Average lesson time: 45-60mins Ages: 5+ Although I specialise in Classical violin and piano, I have a wide taste and knowledge in other styles of music. Typical 60 minute lesson is £35 if you are visiting my place, however please note: if I'm required to travel the price can vary depending on circumstances (to be discussed). I can teach via online but much prefer in person due to the immediate feedback of being in the room and the technical challenges of playing. I've been teaching for 10+ years and like to incorporate my wide experience and knowledge into a unique holistic method.
