About ELISA

My name is Elisa and I would love to be your language tutor. Learning a new language (or improving your existing language skills) is a journey of wonders, which requires dedication, but which gives back surprises and amazing growth and satisfaction. I would be a patient and motivating tutor, aiming to inspire you in your challenges and discoveries. About the journey... Naturally passionate about languages, in my career as a language tutor, I have challenged myself to always provide my students with the highest quality standards based on their individual needs, levels and intuitive learning preferences. Over the years, in contact with a culturally diverse public, I have developed unique teaching methods and materials that would help you achieve great results while providing an interactive and engaging learning process. I use extensively the support of different media to create an interesting and stimulating environment. I believe that the visual aspect of any learning process should be encouraged and used as an additional tool. I am a storyteller and I believe that listening, as well as speaking, enhance inner qualities and interests through which a language is not only learned, but also, vividly absorbed. If you let me, I would take you on a marvellous journey. About the tutor... I am an independent professional with a Master’s Degree in Sociology and Anthropology (Italy) and a Master’s Degree in Production Engineering and Social Innovation (Brazil). I am a writer and I have an endless curiosity for nature, cultures and languages. I have excellent written and verbal communication skills in Italian and Portuguese, both natively and professionally developed. I am also fluent in Spanish with business proficiency level. I have been working in Italy, Brazil and UK for over twenty years, accumulating experiences in a variety of language services, including private tutoring, tour guiding, community interpreting for the public services, the Law courts and the police. I have also been developing editing and proofreading skills, due to my work with written translation, which includes books, scientific articles, social projects and marketing materials for the non-governmental sector and charities, publications and travel articles in magazines and blogs. I've always massively struggled with languages ever since school - it was always my worst subject and any efforts to learn as an adult have been completely hopeless. However, Elisa has been really helpful and very patient with me since I've made a renewed effort to learn with a tutor.
