I worked alongside Matthew in teaching maths lessons to students aged 11-16 for the course of a year. Matthew is a very professional tutor with clear passion for the subjects he teaches, which comes through in his strong support and ability to help students realise their full potential.

As someone who has known Matt for the best part of 10 years, I can vouch for his ability to explain concepts, push students to achieve their potential, and inspire students to a greater enjoyment of learning. When we were in Sixth Form, Matt and I prepared together for our Cambridge interviews by working on difficult problems together. During this preparation, whenever I lacked confidence in myself or didn’t understand something properly, Matt built me up, taught me effectively and brought out of me abilities I didn’t know I had. The following year, Matt enlisted my help to set up a society where Sixth Formers would give talks to their peers about subjects which interested and inspired them. That this society ran successfully, with multiple talks and a throng of regular attendees, is a testament to Matt’s belief in the ability of others, his desire to inspire and his passion for teaching and learning. Equally, in organising and planning both talks of his own and talks of others, he showed excellent organisational skills and a dedication to helping others learn - skills which serve him well as a tutor.
