About Jacky

My name is Jacky Liang and I am a third-year Automotive and Vehicle Engineering Technology student at McMaster University with a passion for helping students learn and build confidence in their abilities. Throughout my academic journey, I have developed strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills that I bring into every tutoring session.

I believe learning should be engaging, encouraging, and tailored to each student's individual needs. As someone who has worked with students of different ages and backgrounds, I understand that no two learners are the same. I strive to create a positive and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and developing a deeper understanding of the material.

Outside of academics, I enjoy mentoring others, working collaboratively, and finding creative ways to explain challenging concepts. My goal as a tutor is not only to help students improve their grades but also to help them become more confident, independent learners who feel capable of tackling future challenges on their own.

As a third-year Automotive and Vehicle Engineering Technology student at McMaster University, my approach to tutoring focuses on creating a supportive, engaging, and personalized learning environment. I believe that every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching methods to match each individual's learning style, whether they are visual, hands-on, discussion-based, or benefit from step-by-step explanations.

My teaching methodology emphasizes understanding concepts rather than simply memorizing information. I encourage students to ask questions, think critically, and build confidence in their abilities. I often use real-world examples, diagrams, practice problems, and interactive discussions to make complex topics easier to understand and more relatable.

A typical lesson begins with a quick review of previous material to identify any areas of difficulty. From there, I introduce new concepts, explain them in a clear and structured manner, and work through examples together. Students then have the opportunity to practice independently while I provide guidance and feedback. I conclude each lesson with a summary of key points and recommendations for further practice to reinforce learning.

What sets me apart as a tutor is my ability to connect with students and adapt my teaching style to their needs. Through my experience working with children and youth in instructional roles, I have developed strong communication, patience, and leadership skills. I strive to create a comfortable learning environment where students feel confident asking questions and making mistakes as part of the learning process.

My lessons are designed for elementary, middle school, and high school students seeking support in mathematics, science, problem-solving, and general academic development. Whether a student needs help understanding foundational concepts, improving grades, preparing for tests, or building confidence in a subject, I am committed to helping them achieve their goals.
