About Sophie
Hi, I'm Sophie – a professional actor and voiceover artist originally from Lancashire, now based in London. Since graduating from Guildford School of Acting in 2013, I've been fortunate to build a varied career across theatre, television, voiceover and commercial work.
Before welcoming my first child I performed the summer season at Shakespeare's Globe, playing Bianca in The Taming of the Shrew and performing in Princess Essex.
Throughout my career I've worked across the UK and internationally. A couple of my theatre credits include Jamie Lloyd Company’s Cyrano de Bergerac alongside James McAvoy, as well as numerous productions with Told by an Idiot, where I am also proud to serve as a trustee. My work with the company has taken me to venues including the Barbican and Birmingham Rep. I've also performed at leading regional theatres such as Bolton Octagon, The Lowry and SJT, among many others in plays such as Home I’m Darling and Quality Street.
Alongside acting, I've established a successful voiceover career, working with broadcasters including the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Sky and Sky Kids. My commercial clients include Google, Müller Light, Richmond, Whittards and Cow & Gate, and I also have extensive experience recording for corporate clients.
As a tutor, I'm passionate about helping actors at every stage of their journey, having past experience teaching drama schools and online delivering improvisation classes for the elderly. Whether you're preparing for drama school auditions, working towards LAMDA exams, developing monologues, rehearsing self-tapes or simply looking to build confidence and sharpen your technique, I offer supportive, practical coaching tailored to your individual goals. Having spent over a decade working professionally in the industry, I understand exactly what casting panels, directors and drama schools are looking for, and I'd love to help you achieve your potential.

Lessons are for anyone any age. If you are in need of professional help or would like to just have fun with practice. My lessons are suitable for anyone looking to explore acting for the first time, develop their skills for school or drama exams, prepare for auditions, or receive professional coaching. Every lesson is tailored to the individual, so whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced performer, we'll focus on your personal goals.
Lesson length can be adapted to suit your needs, although I find that 30 or 60 minute lots are an ideal amount of time to really get into the work. I offer a free online meeting beforehand, to discuss what you would like to do in the lesson and for us to get a feel for one another beforehand. Each session is structured around what you want to achieve, ensuring every lesson is engaging, practical and productive.
Although lessons are delivered online, they remain highly interactive. Sessions usually begin with a warm-up before moving into text analysis, helping you understand the script, character and intentions. From there, we'll put everything into practice through performance, with ongoing feedback and adjustments throughout the lesson. My approach combines analytical discussion with practical exercises, allowing you to build both your understanding and confidence as a performer.
We can work on material that you bring to the lesson, such as audition pieces, scripts or school work. Alternatively, if you're looking to develop your skills more generally, I can provide monologues or scenes in advance for us to explore together.
I also offer specialist coaching in Voiceover and Self-tape preparation. For Voiceover, I can help you select suitable commercial or corporate scripts to begin building or improving your reel, while developing your microphone technique, delivery and confidence. For self-tapes, we can work through scenes together, refine your performance, and I can act as your remote reader and line partner while you record, helping you produce a professional, polished audition.
Alongside my teaching, I work professionally as an actor, allowing me to bring current industry knowledge and practical experience into every lesson. My aim is to create a supportive, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable taking risks, developing their craft and enjoying the process of acting.
