About Shovan

Hi,

I hope you are doing well! I usually restrict myself to speaking about my years of experience and knowledge in the field of performative arts. Having said that, I know you might be choosing me from a pool of excellent artists and human beings, and this description is the deciding factor. Thus, I will try to be short and list down my work below:

- Total experience: 20+years
- Trained by Guru Mantu Debnath in Indian Creative (Kolkata)
- Trained by Mr. Karan Kumar, Ms. Ashna Katoch, Ms. Cat Cogliandro and 100+ artists in Contemporary and Jazz (Delhi)
- Choreographed and performed at numerous prestigious shows and events
- Worked alongside Bengali actress Ms. Sreelekha Mitra
- Worked as a background dancer in the Bollywood film Gunday starring Ms. Priyanka Chopra, Mr. Ranvir Singh and Mr. Arjun Kapoor
- Danced alongside Ms. Malobika Sen in the production Pashchime Rabi curated by Thankamani Kutty.
- Professionally trained in Big Dance Center, Delhi and Lalit Kala, Kolkata
- Professionally trained in performative storytelling by Mr. Raymond Caldwell, director of Theatre Alliance, Washington D.C.
- Freelance with the U.S. State Department and various other government and non-government organisations as an independent artist

I am looking forward to experimenting with performative storytelling with my learners and fellow dancers to develop socially conscious theatres. About the lesson

I identify myself as a facilitator not a teacher. Hence, my teaching techniques constantly adapt to the changing nature of the art and designed uniquely for the individual. Below is a generalised structure of my online and offline classes:

- Each class is of 2 hours and weekly two classes (can be customised)
- Warm up 30 mins
- Basics 45 mins
- Routine 45 mins

My classes are suitable for all age groups!!! Don't be shy to enjoy dancing!!! Let the world judge you the way they want but you enjoy the way you want!!!
