About Taryn

I'm a trainee auditor/accountant. However, after graduating I went on to become a High School Accounting and business studies teachers as I had a passion for teaching. Although I went on to do my articles in accounting, the passion for teaching will always be there. I love transferring my knowledge to others and empowering those I teach. I find fulfillment in seeing my learners succeed.

About the lesson

My approach to lessons start with finding out my learner's learning preference, their problem areas in the subject, and getting to know their character traits to find out how I can structure my lessons in a way that will be effective and interesting for the learner, as well as result in them achieving their academic goals.

I always prepare my lessons in advance for each session. I also provide my learners with a lesson plan so they can prepare specific questions they may have from their school lessons. I also work through questions/examples on the topic with the learner from top to bottom, whilst allowing them to stop me if they feel confused, in which case I go back and try to explain better. I encourage learner interaction. I prefer vocal learners and encourage interaction by asking whether my learners understand throughout my lessons.

I'm generally a kind, humble person and I make sure to put an effort into making my learners feel comfortable to ask me questions. I take my learners' success personally and strive to make sure they walk away from my lessons more confident in the topic than they were before.
