About Dean
I attended Florida State University studying trombone performance, eventually starting my career in the Walt Disney World College program in 1991. My professional career also began at Walt Disney World, playing in a high impact group called the Futurecorps starting in 1994. I also performed in the Magic Kingdom’s Main Street Philharmonic and Disney's Candlelight Orchestra. I have professional experience in styles of orchestral, commercial, jazz and Latin styles of music. I was the Principal Trombonist of the Florida Lakes Symphony for 13 years, also substituting in the Orlando Philharmonic and Brevard Symphony. I have extensive experience in Salsa music, having performed with Tito Nieves, La India, Franky Negron, and many others.

My teaching methods cater to the individual level of the student. I excel in proper warmups for good sound production, tonguing techniques, embouchure development and sight reading. I believe it is imperative, especially for the beginner to establish good fundamentals for playing the instrument and being a proficient music reader. For the more advanced student, I provide good tips on audition preparation and method books that best enhance the student’s goals and musical endeavors. Even if you are a weekend warrior or just love to have fun playing trombone, I am here to help you.
