The DramActive Academy specialises in teaching musical theatre and drama to children of all ages and ability. It currently operates from a number of different venues in Norfolk.
DramActive Academy has been teaching at Norwich High school for 17 years and aims to coach and mentor students to the highest levels in the subjects that it covers. The Academy utilises a structured but creative approach to training and teaching in the following areas:
• Drama, singing and dance
• Movement, mime, poetry and speech
• Confidence building, role-play and dressing up
• T elevision and film technique
All students can enter into The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art’s (L.A.M.D.A) examination syllabus for many of the subjects listed above. All LAMDA Examinations are accredited by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority and our higher qualifications have UCAS points attached to them. DramActive’s principal is Jane Ashdown - LLAM (Hons) and ALAM (Hons), who is a fully qualified teacher of dramatic art. Jane is also member of the Society of Teachers of Speech and Drama,
a body that monitors and maintains high standards of drama teaching through the provision of only qualified teaching professionals. Jane is also qualified in Mencap training and is a member of the S.A.F.E organisation. Jane holds an enhanced DBS check and full liability insurance for DramActive. We are also able to offer our students some opportunities in extra work via our casting agency ‘Luvvies’ and private lessons in speech & drama or musical theatre are available by arrangement.
Teaching children for 20 years - approx 3000 students taught form all different schools including special schools.
We are proud to be a member of the children University encouraging children to participate in out of school activities.
Students have gained many places in drama school such as Brit school/Guildhall/ Lamda and Central together with the attachment of our agency offering students the opportunities to prepare for a career in television and film.
Students have gained places in films such as 45 years/Atonement/Steven Fry Kingdom and Crime Watch as well as modelling contracts with Boden and many opportunities for extra parts .
