About Yazmin

Experienced Head of Department with a BSc Mathematics (hons) from UCL (2:1) and a strong track record in teaching the new GCSE and A-Levels (incl. Maths and Further Maths). I currently teach at an all-through, high performing free school in Feltham where I lead Teaching&Learning and Curriculum Development for KS1-5. Following university, I completed the Teach First Leadership Development Programme, allowing me to hone my teaching skills in the classroom and develop my awareness of the secondary school curriculum. I am now in my 6th year of teaching. During the Teach First Leadership development programme I taught in a large secondary school in Chatham, Kent. On completion of this 2-year programme in 2016 I moved to my current school and haven't looked back! I have an extensive knowledge of the Maths Mastery curriculum in KS2-4, as well as in the Edexcel GCSE and A-Level Maths and Further Maths specifications. I am also able to tutor students sitting examinations with other exam boards. In lessons I like to explain and model new concepts, allow students to practise with guidance and then independence to gain confidence. Students will be expected to complete independent work that will aid both their learning with myself and their school (if applicable). Moving closer to exams, there would be a large focus on the completion of a wide range of questions to test the limits of students' understanding and ensure they are ready for the tests. I believe that with the right guidance and support, all students can be successful!
