About Jake

I graduated with distinction this spring with an honours degree in physics from UBC. I have worked in condensed-matter physics, as well as medical physics, with a total of 26 months of full-time employment in these fields. I am here to help high school and university students succeed in math and physics.

About the lesson

The best way I can help students is to go through practice problems with them. My job is to help students to understand their homework assignments and practice tests. I choose to focus on these problems because exam questions will be entirely based on this material. I can also help students by going through their course notes with them, to ensure they understand everything the teacher expects them to know.

Time is a student's most valuable asset. My methodology is centered on helping students to understand key concepts as early as possible. This way the student can begin solving practice problems early on, and gain a lot of exposure to the same kinds of questions which they will be asked during a test. By rehearsing these practice problems continuously, the student will become faster and more skilled at solving these problems. This will enable the student to succeed come test time.
