Laura is a respected tutor in our community. They are highly recommended for their commitment and the quality of their lessons. An excellent choice to progress with confidence.
About Laura
I’m a UBC Combined Honors Physics & Astronomy student with experience as a university TA in both subjects. I’ve spent years studying physics and math at an advanced level, but I know that understanding a subject and explaining it clearly are two different skills.
I’m patient, approachable, and genuinely enjoy helping students work through the point where something stops making sense. My goal is for students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and leaving a session feeling more confident than when they started.

I focus on making physics and math feel less intimidating by breaking problems down into clear, manageable steps. I like to figure out exactly where a student is getting stuck, then work through examples together until the process actually makes sense rather than just memorizing formulas.
Lessons can include homework help, test preparation, reviewing difficult concepts, or working through practice problems. I especially enjoy helping high school students with Physics 11/12 and math.
As a UBC honours Physics & Astronomy student and TA, I’m very comfortable with the material, but I also remember what it feels like when a concept is new and confusing. My goal is to create a relaxed environment where students can ask questions freely and build confidence as they improve.

Laura is the BEST physics tutor! She’s super patient, funny, and friendly.
I often take FOREVER to get to an answer and definitely have moments where I feel dumb, but she never makes me feel that way. She doesn’t just give me the answer, she asks me questions until I eventually figure it out myself, even when I’m pretty sure my brain has completely stopped working.
She’s somehow made physics feel a lot less impossible, which honestly is an accomplishment because physics does not come naturally to me. I’m really glad I found her!
Laura has been a dedicated volunteer science educator with the UBC Department of Physics & Astronomy’s outreach programs since 2022. Her passion for physics and mathematics, combined with her enthusiasm for science communication, has made her a highly valued and popular student instructor in both online and in-person settings. I highly recommend her ability to break down complex scientific concepts into clear and engaging content for learners of all ages.Laura and I studied physics together for a whole year while we were in the same university and have remained friends since. We spent a lot of time together doing assignments, labs and helping each other prepare for exams. Laura is a genuinely kind, funny and caring person who always had my back when school was hard. If I couldn’t understand something, and Laura did, she would make sure I wasn't leaving there until I understood, no matter how long it took! I highly recommend her as a tutor. You’ll learn and you’ll laugh.
I highly recommend her as a physics tutor! She’s currently studying Honours Physics and Astronomy at UBC and has a genuinely strong understanding of physics, but what really makes her stand out is her ability to explain difficult concepts in a clear and approachable way.
She’s patient, thoughtful, and very good at breaking complicated problems down step by step without making you feel overwhelmed. Rather than just showing you how to get an answer, she focuses on helping you understand the reasoning and intuition behind it, which makes a huge difference when learning physics.
She’s also incredibly friendly and easy to talk to, so asking questions never feels intimidating. Whether you’re struggling with the basics or working through more challenging physics, I’d absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely excellent tutor.View more recommendations
