About Marcus
Hi, I’m Marcus Chow, a dedicated and patient tutor with a strong academic background and a passion for helping students build confidence in their learning. As a volunteer tutor supporting students from under-resourced communities, I’ve worked closely with learners facing financial and educational barriers, providing one-on-one guidance in math and science while creating a supportive and encouraging environment. My experience has taught me the importance of adaptability, empathy, and clear communication—breaking down complex concepts into simple, manageable steps so students truly understand, not just memorize. Beyond tutoring, I bring years of discipline and perseverance from my background in competitive athletics and academic involvement at UBC, which shapes my structured and goal-oriented approach to teaching. I’m committed to helping every student reach their full potential, regardless of their starting point.
