About William

Hi! I'm Will, a second-year medical student at the University of Auckland. I've been tutoring UCAT for over eight months now and have found a real passion for it.

Like many students, I went in with a lot of anxiety, assuming the UCAT was just a test of innate ability. But through my own experience — and now teaching other students — I've learned that's far from true. With consistent, targeted practice, I improved my own score from 1960 to 2630/2700 (including a jump in VR from 500 to 850).

I bring that same structured approach to every student I work with — targeting your specific weaknesses each week while sharpening the strengths you already have, so you go into test day confident and prepared. One student I worked with went from the 5th percentile to the 90th in just a few months, and another from the 35th percentile to the 94th.

About the lesson

I don't believe the UCAT is taught well through long PowerPoint lectures. What actually moves the needle is time spent applying techniques and understanding exactly where — and why — you went wrong. So with me, there's no sitting through slides. Instead, we jump straight into real practice questions, using them to demonstrate strategies as we go.

Lessons run for one hour and focus on a single subtest at a time. In each session, we develop new strategies (or refine ones you're already using), pinpoint your specific weaknesses, and work on problem-solving speed.

Tutoring is personalised and 1-on-1, tailored to fit around a busy high school schedule. Each week, we build a rigorous but realistic training plan together — one that pushes you without burning you out. My approach is especially suited to NZ students aiming for competitive Australian universities.

He was able to weave UCAT preparation into my busy first year uni schedule so that it was manageable and made me work consistently.
