About Andy
I am a practicing mathematician and physicist with experience helping students from around the world to overcome obstacles in their learning: from tricky concepts, to finding confidence, to language barriers. I believe math and physics can make sense to anyone, and I have the tools to help you get there.
After completing my physics degree at the University of Chicago, I spent a year as a Peace Corps volunteer teaching Math and English in Lesotho. Since then, I have been researching computational fluid dynamics and tutoring. Over the last 5 years, I've tutored and taught hundreds of hours of physics and math from the elementary-school level to quantum mechanics.
I've worked with children, with undergrads, and with grad students. I also have experience working with students who have learning disabilities (including dyslexia, dyscalculia, and ADHD). I'm comfortable working at your pace and taking time to help you find *your* way.

I take an approach focused on deep understanding and solving interesting problems together, not drilling or cramming. Our lessons will feel more like conversations than lectures, and I'll give you the wheel as often as possible. If we work online, we'll use tools like Desmos and Idroo to work together and help visualize the math. I teach all levels of math and physics.

Perfect! Andy was wonderful!
- Great, strong curiosity and very easy to get along!See the response Andy :
Perfect! Love the way they explained mathematical equations. He will actually give you a formula that you can modify and adapt in other mathematical equations. he will also explain the algebraic process behind questions. Also very friendly and kind.
- Hospitable, and I learn a lot from her too!See the response Andy :

I'm Andy's brother who's known him for 17 years. He doesn't just do tutoring to support himself, he does it because he's passionate about enlightening others. His teaching style is unique in that it's very accommodating to each unique individual, and his comprehensive mastery of the topics he tutors allows him to find different, equally intelligible ways to explain one thing. When I ask him questions, I find him neither impatient nor irritable.
Andy tutored me while I was trying to catch up on two weeks of missed classes for my quantum mechanics course in college. He was a patient and excellent tutor, and he was very open to answering all of my many questions, which he never made me feel bad for asking. After only a week of Andy's help, I actually scored a 90 on my first quantum midterm and eventually ended the class with an A-. I am forever grateful for Andy's dedication to helping me learn!
Andy is an experienced and kind tutor. He helped me with the physics needed for a graduate level remote sensing class, and was especially patient and helped me through the problems step-by-step, but also encouraged me to try them myself to test my understanding. He makes lessons friendly and fun, but is also professional and very dedicated to his students.
Andy is a talented mathematician, a clear thinker, a strong communicator, and an empathetic guy -- all these traits together make him a great tutor. He won’t just correctly answer your question, he will walk alongside you in your learning journey, showing you how to build a logical framework that allows you to find future answers yourself.
