About Umar
Hello! I am a French teacher based in Mauritius, with a degree in French Language and Literature from University College London. I have taught French in secondary school for over 20 years and online for the past 10 years. I am also the author of several books published in French.
I teach because I genuinely love the French language, its literature and its culture—and I enjoy seeing students become confident, independent learners. My aim is to make French clear, interactive and enjoyable, while helping each student achieve their personal and academic goals.

I offer engaging, interactive French lessons for learners aged 10 to 18, from complete beginners to advanced level. My classes are tailored to each student’s needs, combining grammar, vocabulary, speaking, listening, reading and writing in a clear, supportive and enjoyable way.
I prepare students for DELF, IGCSE and IB Standard Level examinations, while also helping them gain confidence in everyday French. With a degree in French Language and Literature from University College London, 20 years’ experience teaching in a Mauritian secondary school, and 10 years of online teaching experience, I know how to help students progress steadily and succeed in their exams. My students have consistently achieved excellent results.
