About Siya
Last year, I applied and successfully secured a place at the London School of Economics (LSE), a university that highly values the quality of personal statements produced. During my own application process, I did rigorous research on content, structure, formatting, and learnt all the 'dos' and 'don'ts' when writing up a personal statement. I've also had many tutors for university applications myself, so I know what a difference the right support can make. I grew up in Singapore, where academics were intense and the learning environment was highly competitive. That experience gave me a strong work ethic, but it wasn’t until I moved to Brighton College in the UK that I discovered a more balanced, strategic approach to studying. Since then, I’ve blended both learning styles into how I study and tutor. I’ve gained a great deal from my experiences — both good and bad — and it’s helped me understand how to connect with students in a way that’s clear, helpful, and encouraging. I’m always open to hearing what works best for each person, and I adapt my sessions based on that. I aim to create a positive, relaxed space where students feel comfortable asking questions and building their confidence. I bring patience, structure, and energy to every lesson, and I genuinely enjoy helping others figure things out in a way that clicks.

I bring an energetic, conversational approach to tutoring, shaped by my extroverted and sociable nature. I focus on creating a friendly, low-pressure environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and actively engaging. My sessions are interactive and adapted to each student’s learning style. This may be visual, verbal, or practical. I pair this with strong academic resources, reading recommendations depending on the subject for university applications, personalised tips and personal tailored advice. Lessons would run for 60 minutes or longer if requested and follow a clear structure: a quick check-in, focused discussion/writing time, and a recap with takeaway tips. I’ve tutored students for several years in subjects like Maths, Politics, and Economics, helping a range of learners from school-age children to university students. I’ve also led study groups, exam recap workshops, and university preparation sessions, giving me experience across one-on-one and group settings.
