About Lavanya

I sat my GCSEs in Fernwood School in 2022 and achieved 7 nine-grades in Sciences, Maths, Product Design and French, to name a few. I did 3 A-levels at Bilborough College: Maths, Physics and Business. I also did an Extended Project Qualification on Industrial Farming during my time at college, achieving an A grade.

I have previous coaching experience due to my being a chess player for the English Team since 2019 and thus having coached junior players and teammates. I enjoy conversing with kids and try to stay on the same page with them through their learning journey. Having played internationally across Europe, I can understand and recognize different children's different learning needs and can make an effort to reduce language barriers if there are any.

I am open to teach these subjects on request: Biology, English Language, Maths at A-level, Physics at A-level, Business at A-level. I have good English skills and so am adept in teaching these subjects if I have available time slots to do so.

About the lesson

I have achieved a grade 9 in all sciences and maths and have now also completed A level Maths and Physics. I teach online via zoom- completely interactive with my writing tablet as I can work through and explain problems at my students pace, writing in a format suitable to them. For example, in Maths, there are often many ways to solve the same problem- showing them different methods give them the choice.

I focus on exam technique and regularly explore exam-style questions. As a former GCSE student I can help point out what my students should watch out for, how they should approach certain problems and can work alongside them to identify and strengthen their weaknesses.

Typical length of a lesson is 1 hour (this is what most students are comfortable with and have the best productivity in.) This can be adjusted as necessary for certain students. I set homework tasks and share may useful resource to help my students study and revise, my students feel free to bring the problems or papers they struggled on to go through together. I challenge them by helping them attempt harder, higher grade questions which are likely to be overlooked in schools.
