Hi! I’m a university music student offering friendly online tutoring in music theory, GCSE, A-Level or preparation for Aural tests. Whether you’re working towards an exam, preparing for university study, or just want to build confidence in your musical knowledge, I can tailor lessons to suit your needs and goals. My Approach I make music theory clear and approachable by breaking it down into manageable steps and relating it to music you already know and enjoy. Lessons are interactive and adaptable — we can focus on anything from notation and harmony to analysis and essay skills. I aim to build both understanding and confidence through: - Simple explanations with practical examples - Guided exercises and practice questions - Flexible pacing, with plenty of room for questions Lesson Structure - Typical session: 45–60 minutes - Lessons are customised around your goals and current level - Optional follow-up tasks provided if you’d like to keep practising between sessions Who I Teach - Students of all levels looking to improve their music theory skills. - Learners preparing for music, school or university exams, or simply wanting to strengthen their understanding of music. - Teenagers, adult learners, and hobbyists alike. Whether you want structured exam support or a more relaxed approach to exploring music theory, I’ll adapt lessons to fit your needs.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
My 8-year-old son has been learning piano and music theory with Max for the past three years, and the experience has been fantastic. Max is endlessly patient and has a real talent for keeping lessons engaging—my son is always excited for his sessions and never wants them to end. Under Max’s guidance, he’s grown so much in both skill and confidence, and most importantly, he’s developed a genuine love for music. I highly recommend Max to anyone looking for a dedicated and inspiring teacher.
