About Hemani
In a lesson with me, expect to see enthusiasm, solid subject knowledge and a whole variety of teaching methods. I keep a lot of random items on my desk with me at hand to explain concepts kinaesthetically and visually. Unfortunately, I am not so talented with singing myself, but know some great youtube videos in song form, that can engage that auditory part of my students brain.
Every lesson, I set personalised homework that we will go through at the front end of our next one. Often, I will compile exam questions or ask my students to create a revision resource for a concept we have gone though, however as homework is completely personalised, the exact nature of the homework will depend on my student's personal circumstances.

I tend to start tutoring a student holistically, I ask about how they study typically, if at all, and assess what sort of revision strategies that they would benefit from. After this, I delve deeper into understanding how much of the specification a student knows and how well they are able to apply themselves to exam questions. Once I have their baseline sorted, I teach either in chronological order of the specification or with their school, which enables a student to apply what they learn in their lessons with me to their topic tests right away. I pride myself on being able to show a student exactly how to learn as per their learning style. Schools do not teach "how to learn" and unfortunately students often do not know how to optimize their learning. As I have been an online tutor for a number of years now, I have built up a bank of resources and revision sites as well as a comprehensive set of notes and flashcards for Biology at GCSE and A-Level, which I share with my tutees.
