About Kelsey

I have always been a bookworm at heart, the kind of child who found joy in words. My love for language led me to study English and Psychology as a double major at university, where I developed a strong understanding of how people learn and communicate. After graduating, I moved to Italy to work as a private English tutor for two boys, aged 7 and 13, which sparked my passion for teaching. From there, I travelled to South Korea, where I spent three years teaching English to elementary students in rural schools. I taught Years 3–6 across three schools, hosted both summer and winter English camps, and even tutored students and teachers after school. Seeing how much impact English education had on those communities was truly rewarding. I later transitioned into my current role as an Academic Writing Feedback Specialist, helping high school and university students refine their academic essays and research papers. Outside of teaching, I enjoy running and travelling, and I am an avid New York Times crossword enthusiast; I make sure to complete it every day!

About the lesson

I approach my lessons with energy and enthusiasm, as this starts my students off on a positive note (I know all too well how groan-inducing extra lessons can be for most students). I also believe that learning English should feel both purposeful and enjoyable. My lessons are designed to build confidence as well as strong reading, writing, and analytical skills. I tailor each session to the student’s needs, whether that means preparing for 7+ or 11+ exams, developing essay and technique for GCSEs, or refining analysis and critical thinking for A Levels. Lessons usually last about an hour and focus on clear progress, practical exam strategies, and sparking curiosity about language and literature. With years of experience helping students gain places at selective schools and achieve top exam results, I aim to make every lesson engaging, supportive, and genuinely rewarding. Students appreciate my eye-to-eye approach, as I engage with them more familiarly, as friends/peers.
