Hi! I’m James, a Toronto-based piano teacher and conductor with a passion for helping students discover the joy of music.
With a Master of Music in conducting from the University of Toronto and a background in piano since childhood, I strive to bring a well-rounded and supportive perspective to every lesson. My goal as a teacher is to pass along the positivity, clarity, and guidance I’ve received from my own mentors, helping each student build real confidence at the keys.
Whether we’re working on solid technique, reading skills, or learning how to play expressively, I tailor my teaching to keep lessons engaging and clear.

Whether you’re learning piano purely for fun or preparing for an exam or audition, I’m here to help you reach your goals.
I firmly believe that every student learns differently. My role as a teacher is to listen to your unique learning style and tailor my approach to what inspires you—all while building a strong foundation in technique and musicality.
With a background in piano performance (solo, accompanying, and chamber music) and a Master’s degree in conducting, I bring a well-rounded perspective to our lessons. We won't just focus on hitting the right notes; we'll explore all aspects of music and how to express yourself comfortably at the keys.
