About Kyle

Hello, my name is Kyle. I’m a university graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Japanese.

In 2009, I began my language learning journey with the main goal of being able to comprehend both spoken and written Japanese and dedicated myself to my studies with the hopes of one day being able to grasp the language at a native level.

In 2020, I decided to further my studies at university, where I was provided with a life-changing opportunity to help translate an important Japanese publication titled ヒロシマの家. As co-editor and co-translator, I was able to help bring Houses for Hiroshima to an English-speaking audience and remind myself of just how rewarding and life-changing language study can truly be.

After graduating magma cum laude in 2022, I was offered a role as a bilingual IT support associate, where I provided remote troubleshooting assistance to customers throughout Japan.

About the lesson

Being self-taught, I spent significant time referencing traditional and online resources in the hope of refining a studying regiment that would lead me to fluency. Throughout my studies, I discovered a fair number of resources that helped me reach my goals, but also came across those that either weren’t a good fit or simply didn’t interest me.

What may work for some may not work for others, so during our lessons, we will create a personalized lesson plan and set exciting goals to keep you motivated throughout your journey toward fluency, regardless of your current level.

Japanese language study started out as a simple hobby for me. Like most other hobbies throughout my life, I imagined that I would eventually lose interest. However, the more that I invested in language learning, the more rewarding the experience felt. I believe that the key to achieving fluency is being able to truly enjoy yourself along the way, and it is my goal to help guide you throughout that learning process.
