About Alex
I have a strong educational background across mathematics, the sciences, and the humanities. I studied History, English Literature, and German to A-Level and achieved 3 As. I specialise in English Language and Literature, in which I have a First Class BA (Hons) from the University of Oxford. I am also able to offer special tuition for the Oxford ELAT entrance exam and Oxbridge interviews and applications.

I am passionate about teaching, and the sharing of knowledge, and I try to encourage my students to share in this enjoyment of learning. I endeavour to teach with suppleness, and adapt myself to each student's needs. My aim is always to help them find something about the subject which excites them, and allow that to propel them to new heights of thinking. I believe that every student has the potential to achieve beyond their expectations, and in doing that they will begin to take great satisfaction in their studies, and greatly raise their self-esteem and happiness.

I found Alex to be a fantastic tutor - he helped me prepare for the ELAT so I could apply to Oxford, and made me much more certain in the process that that was the right place for me to be. As well as helping me with the examination itself, he gave advice on what the interviews would look like, and details about the course there. Throughout our time together, alongside improving my ability to critically engage with a text, he was friendly, and made the sessions enjoyable as well as useful.
Alex is a patient, kind and engaging tutor. He always found ways to make the subject exciting.
