About Anne
I am a PhD student at the History and Philosophy of Science department at the University of Pittsburgh (one of the highest ranking departments in the world in this field) studying philosophy of physics. I started my philosophical training at Harvard University in 2018, and fell in love with the depth of arguments and ideas that philosophy promotes. I completed my undergraduate specialist degree at the University of Toronto in Physics and Philosophy, with a minor in abstract mathematics, where I also TA'd for PHL100 (introduction to Philosophy, Historical) in my last year. My extensive background in philosophy, combined with practical experience in teaching philosophical reading, writing, and logic, ensure that I can help you reach your goals in philosophy regardless of your level and background.
Studying philosophy is about thinking outside the box, questioning things that other people take for granted, and learning to express your ideas in the clearest and strongest possible way. However, being a good philosophy student is not about having a particular skill-set or talent; it is about understanding the structure of philosophical writing and argumentation, which are things that we can all learn. This is also where logic comes in, and where a lot of students have difficulty, but I am here to guide you through all the intricacies of logic and argumentation, and help you see how all the pieces fit together and how to use them to strengthen your ideas.

I am passionate about teaching how to formalize philosophy, from taking notes while reading philosophical papers to writing essays and arguments, to mastering philosophical logic. I specialize in philosophy of physics and have a mathematics background, and I have been a logic tutor for 4 years now. I started my philosophical training at Harvard University, completed my undergrad at the University of Toronto and am now undertaking a PhD at the University of Pittsburgh; over the past few years I have learned the key aspects of reading, writing and teaching philosophy (which have helped me get only A range grades in philosophy, allowed me to TA for PHL100 at UofT, and enter into grad school in Philosophy), and I am excited to share these with my students. My lessons are for students looking to explore philosophy and logic, be that in any pre-college, undergraduate or early graduate level.

Perfect! Amazing tutor! especially for logic, all explanations were clear and made sense even when going over harder topics. Anne helped me feel much more confident in my work and answering questions. I would definitely recommend Anne as a tutor, she’s great
Perfect! Anne is very sweet and a great logic tutor! I am someone who struggles with math so logic is not my strong suit but she has been so understanding and helpful!
Perfect! Good
Perfect! Anne's attention to detail and breadth of knowledge immediately stood out to me. As an adult learner outside of any school curriculum, Anne has helped point me in the right direction regarding my independent studies. We covered Descartes, Kant, and various streams of logic, among many other topics. I now feel more confident in my ability to think and reason in a rational manner, which has helped me in every area of my life, thank you, Anne!
