About Tamara
I am a mechanical engineer currently working, part time, as a consulting design engineer in Nelspruit. I have been tutoring since my matric year in 2012. I continued tutoring throughout my university career. I tutored independently and under professional tutoring services offered in Pretoria. My specialty is tutoring grade 10 to 12 maths, physics and chemistry. I’ve also tutored first year university calculus and computer programming for two consecutive years, whilst studying at the University of Pretoria. My ability is not limited to these education levels, I am able to tutor students ranging from primary school level up until tertiary level. In my final year, I was a teaching assistant for the engineering module; Dynamics. I have always possessed a natural ability to teach and ensure the fundamentals and principles become permanently embedded in the student’s mind.

My approach for all subjects follows the following strategy/course:
1. Overview of what the syllabus is about and what it aims to achieve at the end of its term.
2. Chapter and topic review and brief explanation of what each section entails.
3. For each chapter/section, I always make sure to thoroughly go through the history and basics of the topic/principal/theory. I have learnt that understanding the origin of a topic sets a fundamental basis for grasping the topic at hand.
4. Explain in a straightforward manner, i.e. go from the basic/simple skeletal explanation and build on it step by step.
5. Doing all the examples along the way.
6. Finally, and this is the most important step in my experience, I take the student through all (if not most) possible problems that may be asked and I teach them how to discern what type of problem it is and what remedy to utilise.
