My teaching methods consists of first assessing the child in terms of where they need improvement (reading, writing, sound correspondence, phonemes, blending, segmenting, pseudo words, decoding, etc.). To ensure that progress occurs, my lessons/meetings will be mainly based upon making reading automatic through: phonic and phoneme instructions/strategies, practicing sight words, and simply practicing reading one on one where I will guide the child so that they can become an independent reader.
I am a third year university student majoring in Child and Youth Studies. I have taken several courses which provide me with favourable devices that help promote reading development in children. I have worked with children in various settings both recreational and educational. My goal is to ensure I am meeting the child(s) specific learning needs and determining how/what helps promotes their success.
