About Yifan

Hi, I'm Yifan, an undergraduate student majoring in Human Biology at the University of Toronto. I enjoy explaining biological concepts and helping others understand how living systems work. My university studies give me a foundation for supporting students with high school biology.

As a student myself, I understand how challenging unfamiliar concepts and scientific terminology can feel. I aim to create a supportive environment where you can ask questions, work at a comfortable pace, and build understanding step by step. I study in English and am a native Mandarin speaker, so I can provide Mandarin explanations when helpful. I take lesson preparation seriously and welcome feedback about what helps you learn.

I offer online biology tutoring for high school students who need help understanding concepts, working through homework, or preparing for tests. My approach combines clear explanations, diagrams, and guided practice, with lessons tailored to your school materials and current learning goals.

A typical session starts with a short discussion or a few questions to identify where you need support. We then work through the relevant concepts and example problems before you try questions independently. I encourage you to ask questions and explain your reasoning so we can address any misunderstandings together.

Please share your class notes, questions, or test topics before the session so I can prepare suitable materials. Lessons can be conducted in English, with Mandarin explanations available when helpful. For students studying biology in English, I also focus on scientific vocabulary and expressing answers clearly.
