About the lesson

My teaching method is engineered for deep learning and long-term retention by systematically incorporating four powerful, evidence-based techniques: We will strategically distribute learning sessions and reviews of specific topics over increasing intervals of time, rather than cramming information. Ensuring that what you learn sticks with you long-term. Instead of focusing on one concept or skill in a single block before moving to the next, we will practice Interleaving. This means we mix different, often related, topics, problem types, or skills within a single study session or across sessions. This technique helps you develop a more flexible and robust understanding, enhancing your ability to differentiate between concepts and apply your knowledge in varied contexts. We will emphasize actively recalling information from memory, rather than passively rereading or reviewing material. You’ll engage in frequent Retrieval Practice through methods like low-stakes quizzes, explaining concepts in your own words, practice questions, or working through problems without looking at solutions. This process of actively retrieving information significantly strengthens memory traces and makes knowledge more readily accessible when you need it. Crucially, your learning will be supported by timely, clear, and constructive Feedback. Following retrieval practice or any learning activity, you'll receive specific information on your performance. This guidance is vital for identifying areas of strength and weakness, correcting misunderstandings, reinforcing accurate knowledge, and guiding your future learning efforts for maximum effectiveness and efficiency.
