About Shota

こんにちは (Hello)! I was born in the States and raised in Japan, so I’m a native speaker of both English and Japanese! I’ve had the pleasure of teaching both languages to a diverse range of students, from 5-year-olds to native Japanese high schoolers. With over 19 years of living in Japan, I’m excited to share not just the language but also the rich culture that comes with it! My classes are friendly, engaging, and meaningful, designed to help you grow your language skills while enjoying the learning process. Let’s embark on this journey together!

About the lesson

Teaching Method and Techniques:

I believe that learning should be fun and engaging! I use a communicative approach that focuses on real-life conversations and cultural insights. I've taught kids from 5 year olds to native Japanese high school students and have experience!

Typical Lesson Plan:

Warm-Up (5 minutes): We’ll kick things off with a quick review or a fun icebreaker in Japanese to get you comfortable.
Vocabulary and Grammar (15 minutes): I’ll introduce new words or grammar points with lots of examples and fun exercises.
Speaking Practice (15 minutes): You’ll have a chance to shine in conversations through pair work or role-play scenarios.
Cultural Insights (10 minutes): We’ll dive into some interesting cultural aspects to help you understand the language in context.
Wrap-Up (5 minutes): We’ll recap what we learned and I’ll share some cool practice tasks for next time.
