About Fatima
Hello! I am a final year student in the Medical Laboratory Science program at the U of A. Before this program, I graduated with an Honours degree in Psychology from the Faculty of Science, also at the U of A, where I spent the first 2 years focused on biological sciences. I have taken several anatomy, physiology, and microbiology classes during this degree as well. I really enjoy teaching and have had a passion for it from a young age. I have been a volunteer teacher for the past 6 and a half years at a local school. I have taught students ranging from 5 to 15 years old. As part of this role, I created the lesson plans, practice questions, exams, and activities aimed at keeping the students engaged in the lessons. I have taught both in person as well as online. Through my experience as a volunteer teacher, I have learned to adapt my teaching style to be adaptable to both teaching methods! I am new to this platform; however, I have been teaching for many years now, and I think I can really help students better understand concepts they may be struggling with. I think my education has made me well-versed in areas of biology and psychology, which will allow me to help students in these areas! I look forward to meeting you:)

For me, a good tutor is one that can adapt their teaching style to the needs and learning style of the student. Everyone learns differently and my teaching strategy revolves around this idea. My goal is not just to teach but to teach effectively using a student-centered approach. In the first session, I like to talk to students briefly to get an idea of how they like to learn and use that information to alter future lessons. I like to incorporate practice questions in my lesson to reinforce concepts and ensure that the concepts are being understood. I think learning should be fun and engaging so I like to use various tools to create an engaging and safe learning environment for my students. I can teach Biology/science and psychology for students in K-12 as well as university undergraduate Psychology and medical Laboratory sciences courses!
