About Aafreen
Hi, my name is Aafreen! I graduated with a Bachelor of Science (First Class Honors) from the University of Melbourne and am currently completing a Master of Biomedical Engineering at the same university. With 3 years of informal tutoring experience and 2 years of formal tutoring, I have worked with a wide range of students, helping them navigate the challenges of junior-level science and VCE Biology. Throughout my high school and university studies, I have honed the skill of studying biology effectively—not just memorizing facts but truly understanding how to apply concepts in different contexts. I know firsthand that biology can feel overwhelming, but with the right study strategies, it becomes manageable and even enjoyable. Hi, my name is Aafreen! I completed my Bachelor of Science with First-Class Honours at the University of Melbourne and am currently pursuing a Master of Biomedical Engineering. My experience in biology has equipped me with the skills to break down complex topics into simple, clear explanations—helping students grasp challenging concepts in junior-level science and VCE Biology with confidence.
I firmly believe that, despite what others say, biology does have an aspect of memorisation. However, true success comes from not just memorising but also knowing how to apply knowledge in different contexts and refining understanding through practice. That’s why my lessons follow a structured three-phase approach:
Memorisation – Learning and retaining key concepts effectively
Application – Developing the ability to apply memorised knowledge in different and abstract ways
Mastery & Strategy – Practicing exam-style questions to refine understanding, identify gaps, and build confidence
Over the years, my students who have followed this structured method have been able to achieve the marks they aimed for. My teaching style emphasizes a visual learning approach, where students can map out concepts, reinforce key relationships, and build a permanent study resource for revision.
