About Maria
A sharp, resonant string sound fills the room the moment the bow touches the hair. Pacing is deliberate, ensuring that scales and arpeggios are not rushed but understood through the lens of ear training.
Staccato bowing techniques are treated as essential movements rather than mere additions. I provide a monthly progress report shared with parents to ensure full transparency.
RCM Grade 10 candidates often require this level of granular feedback to excel. Teens and hobbyists find that this structure creates a clear path forward. My University of Toronto training informs every correction I offer.
The studio environment remains quiet and focused. The music will continue to grow.

Double stops and sight reading are often misunderstood as mechanical tasks. These elements require a deep physical intuition that stems from 13 years of performing in the Montreal Symphony Orchestra.
I integrate the ORFF and Kodály methodology to ensure that technical requirements like spiccato bowing and shifting positions are grounded in internal rhythm. Having guided hundreds of students through RCM Grade 1 through 10, I understand the unique pressure faced by advanced learners.
My studio in Ottawa serves as a laboratory for classical repertoire and precise ear training. Tuning by ear is a core pillar that I prioritize above reliance on digital devices. My degree from the University of Toronto Faculty of Music provides the formal scaffolding for this expressive work.
I expect rigorous practice habits from my students. This intensity is always balanced by a warm approach to our shared musical journey. I look forward to hearing your sound.
